Meatloaf Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef or a mix of beef and pork
  • 1 cup French onion soup canned or homemade
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs plain or seasoned
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Swiss or Gruyere
Topping Ingredients
  • 1 cup French onion soup for topping
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese for topping

Method
 

Prepare the Meatloaf
  1. Preheat the oven to 350?F (175?C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, French onion soup, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
Bake the Meatloaf
  1. Pour 1 cup of French onion soup over the meatloaf.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle the top with 1/2 cup of shredded cheese and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through.
  4. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
