  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar adjust based on sweetness preference
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice adds brightness
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional, for thicker consistency
For Serving
  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream pairs beautifully with warm blueberry compote
  • 4 pieces pancakes or waffles for drenching in compote

Method
 

Making the Compote
  1. Combine fresh blueberries with sugar and lemon juice in a saucepan. Stir gently until the sugar begins to dissolve.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat. Bring it to a gentle simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Mash some blueberries with a fork or potato masher for a chunkier texture.
  4. Thicken the compote by letting it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Cool the blueberry compote before serving for about 10-15 minutes.
