Indulge in the comforting goodness of a classic tuna melt, where crispy, buttered bread embraces a savory filling of creamy tuna and melty cheese. This delightful dish is quick to prepare, making it an ideal choice for satisfying late-night cravings or casual gatherings. With just a few simple ingredients and minimal effort, you can whip up this warm hug on a plate that will surely please both kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (5 oz) chunk light tuna, drained
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices sourdough bread (or your choice)
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the drained tuna with mayonnaise until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Fold in the shredded cheese gently into the tuna mixture for extra creaminess.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place one slice, butter-side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Spread half of the tuna mixture on the unbuttered side of the bread and top with another slice of cheese if desired. Add another slice of bread on top, butter-side up.
  5. Grill until golden brown (about 3 minutes), then flip and cook until both sides are crispy and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from heat, let cool briefly, cut in half, and serve with pickles or chips.
