Description

Thanksgiving Potato and Celery Root Mash is a creamy, indulgent side dish that elevates your holiday table with its unique flavor combination. By blending buttery Yukon Gold potatoes with the earthy notes of celery root, this mash offers a delightful twist on traditional mashed potatoes. Perfectly seasoned and velvety smooth, it’s the ideal accompaniment to turkey or any festive main course, making it a must-have for your Thanksgiving feast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold Potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 lb Celery Root (Celeriac), peeled and cut into chunks
  • ? cup Unsalted Butter
  • ? cup Heavy Cream
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the Yukon Gold potatoes and celery root into even chunks.
  2. In a large pot, combine the chopped vegetables and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to simmer until fork-tender (about 20 minutes).
  3. Drain the vegetables, returning them to the pot over low heat for 2 minutes to evaporate excess moisture.
  4. Mash with unsalted butter and heavy cream using a potato masher until smooth. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  5. Transfer to a serving bowl, optionally garnishing with fresh herbs like chives or parsley.
