  • 1 large head green cabbage
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350?F (175?C). Remove the core from the cabbage and blanch leaves in boiling water for 2 minutes; drain well.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with chopped onions until browned; break up any large pieces.
  3. In a bowl, combine cooked rice, seasoned beef mixture, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Spoon filling into each cabbage leaf, roll tightly like a burrito, and place seam-side down in a greased baking dish.
  5. Pour tomato sauce over the rolls evenly. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour; uncover for the last 10 minutes.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving.
