Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup long-grain rice (Basmati or Jasmine)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter or olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Fresh parsley or thyme for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

  3. Stir in the rinsed rice and toast for 3-4 minutes until slightly golden.
  4. Pour in the broth, add salt and pepper, and bring to a boil while stirring occasionally.
  5. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes without lifting the lid.
  6. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
