- 1 package (16 oz) phyllo dough
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup chopped pistachios
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- ? cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- ? cup water
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350?F (175?C) and brush a deep baking dish with melted butter.
- In a bowl, mix together walnuts, pistachios, sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
- Layer six sheets of phyllo dough in the baking dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
- Spread half of the nut mixture over the layered phyllo and top with three more buttered sheets. Add the remaining nut mixture on top.
- Finish layering with remaining phyllo sheets brushed with butter. Score the top into diamond shapes.
- Bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.
- While baking, combine water, sugar, lemon juice, and maple syrup in a saucepan over medium heat until dissolved; simmer for 10 minutes.
- Pour warm syrup over hot baklava once it's out of the oven; let cool before serving.
