Description

Cranberry-Apple Compote with Walnuts is a vibrant and flavorful addition to your Thanksgiving table. This easy-to-make dish combines the tartness of fresh cranberries with the sweetness of crisp apples, all enhanced by the crunch of toasted walnuts. Perfect as a side for turkey or as a topping for breakfast items, this compote will impress your guests and elevate your holiday feast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji), peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup toasted walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Rinse cranberries under cold water, discarding any squishy ones. Peel and chop apples into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cranberries, chopped apples, sugar, and water. Stir gently until cranberries begin to pop.
  3. Once bubbling, add cinnamon and stir until most cranberries have burst and ingredients meld into a sauce.
  4. Remove from heat and mix in toasted walnuts.
  5. Allow compote to cool at room temperature before serving.
