  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 4 crusty Italian sub rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400?F (200?C). In a bowl, mix ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into small meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter) and bake them on a lined baking sheet for about 20 minutes.
  3. While the meatballs are baking, heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.
  4. Once the meatballs are cooked, place several on each sub roll and generously spoon marinara sauce over them.
  5. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and return to the oven to broil for about two minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

For added moisture and flavor, soak breadcrumbs in milk before mixing.

Experiment with different meats such as ground pork or turkey for varied tastes.

Feel free to add your favorite seasonings or herbs to the meat mixture for customized flavors.
