Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups starchy potatoes (e.g., Russets or Yukon Gold), peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup fresh carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the vegetables by washing and peeling the potatoes and carrots. Chop them into even chunks along with the cabbage.
  2. In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the potato chunks until fork-tender (about 15-20 minutes).
  3. Add in the chopped carrots and cabbage; cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until softened.
  4. Drain the vegetables and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk (or cream), salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth yet slightly chunky.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve warm with a drizzle of melted butter if desired.
